Omg! My heart just stopped. I’ve been negligent on my blog reading, so am just now learning that big Tony B is in town filming No Reservations. I was lucky enough to run into him (rather bombard him) at the Tides Hotel in South Beach, shortly after his presentation at the Wine and Food Festival in February. Story goes: Patten and I were having a drink on the front patio of the Tides when in walks Tony. I approach him for a photo op (results below), then fumble into some tangent about how I drafted a 30-second pitch in case I ran into him as to why he should hire me to work for him but I sounded as run-on and terrible as this and he kind of just laughed. I couldn’t even get out my actual Traveler cred, or my ability to clearly communicate. It was the embarrassment of the year. So, it goes without saying that I’m off to take a shower, shine my shoes, and go make things right with Tony. Too bad he doesn’t wear red stripes like Waldo… First stop: BCB.

And several months later e and I watched Tony purchase that shirt on No Reservations – Hawaii

That is too funny. You do know he paid $3,000 for that shirt, right? Well, so they said on his Hawaii episode. It was purchased at an antique shop near Waikiki named Bailey’s Aloha Shirts.
Remember Insomniac with Dave Atell on the Comedy Channel? Well, speaking of running into the host, I ran into Dave while he was filming here in Waikiki. He’s just as cocky in real life as he is on the show, but in a cool way. The really does go out during graveyard shift and do all his filming. I believe it was 1am when I ran into him.
[...] (i.e. he probably makes a buck or two off each order of Steak Frites). I’ve loved Tony for a while now, which is exactly why I haven’t summoned up the courage to take on the place [...]
